Belated Vday Post

Michelle got us a groupon for a sleigh ride in Park City back in December and as usual, life became busy and so we didn't use it until right before it expired, which happened to be the day before Valentine's Day. We realized this coincidental timing when we got there which made this adventure even more hilarious to us. Because of that, we decided to go all out and make it an early Valentine's Day celebration since we both know that we would be carrying on the yearly tradition of celebrating it solely with one another. If you knew how much fun we had together, you'd know there is no sympathy needed...just jealously for the amount of laughter and good times we had.

Standing in front of one of the sleighs before taking off!

Part of our scenic tour, I just found this to be funny...you know  how I do, laugh at things most people don't think are that funny. Michelle at least pity laughed, which is another reason why she is so awesome.

Beautiful scenery along the ride

The many faces of Michelle, how can you not laugh for hours when you're around her??

Aw, she's so pretty-ful :)

We were jealous of that sleigh ride behind us...the driver told stories and kept them entertained. Ours decided speaking was not going to happen from his side so we awkwardly talked and giggled in the back as we looked around and took pictures.

Zoolander Michelle

Oh and then there's me...our driver was very happy to stay put for picture time, can't you tell?

Our view on the drive back to Salt Lake

We decided to go out to dinner too, it was Vday afterall. Maybe the news of how much we eat got out to the restaurant world because the PF Changs staff gave us a  HUGE booth to sit at while sharing our 4 course feast :)

I apparently like to pretend people are actually sitting with me to put my arms around

This picture says it all - we ate WAY too much food and we paid for it. Not money-wise since we got a great Vday deal but tummy ache-wise. Still, so worth it.

Now my lovely Valentine/best friend/sister will be leaving me in a few days to move to California for a new job and to answer everyone's questions that you've been asking/wondering once and for all: NO, it is not okay...NO, we are not handling it well...YES, we have cried multiple times already and have pits in our stomachs daily knowing how hard it will be...YES, I'm crying as I write this...but YES, it is the right thing for Michelle to do so we'll have to push through and become frequent fliers/have a countdown until I can move out to paradise with her!

Cabin Fever

Luckily for me and Janae, princess year continued a couple weeks after we got back from the cruise when we were invited to go play at our friends’ cabin past Heber and up by the Uinta National Forest!

I am now experiencing this cabin fever I mention in the title in that I am now antsy to get back to the cabin life where things were laid back, free of stress and phone service and where the friends and country music were a constant.

I figured I covered my word limit for blogging for the year on my last post so I'll just list a few memorable parts of the trip. :)

  • Hanging out and chatting with the parents as soon as we arrived while the boys helped get some people unstuck...we impressed our new friends with my good RD eating habits as I downed a hamburger, fries and licked the bowel clean of fry sauce
  • Squeezing Caleb, Janae and I on a snowmobile to get to church (praying Janae didn't fly off the back), doing so supposedly for time-sake but now that I think about it, there may have been ulterior motives involved...
  • Back-scratch Sacrament Meeting at a local ward...followed by spiritual thought Sunday School/RS/EQ in the cabin with the family
  • Games where Janae announces that she farted
  • Games where Janae announces my history of unusual sweating while exerting physical labor/activity
  • Magic games and fortune telling where we all found out who our future spouses would be...I've been a little sad since finding out the news, the cards were not on my side. Curse the fortune telling/teller
  • Getting caught sleep cuddling with Janae...I'm going to blame Janae on this one and her insistence on staying in the same room/bed despite the 50 available beds in the cabin
  • PHENOMENAL acting by Janae and yours truly in a short-lived game of Murder Charades
  • Being trapped in the powdery snow, and trapped in, well...yeah just the snow :)
  • Yummy food all around me, including a special version of french toast and homemade syrup...mmm
  • Country music playing all. the. time. Simply heaven to me
  • Getting caught in my goofy attempts at dancing to the music as we cleaned
  • The chance to drive the snowmobile up the mountain and get stuck
  • The chance to crash into a fence on the first attempt to drive the snowmobiles
  • Taking lots of fun pictures to brag to all of you about how awesome our lives are :)

Welcome to the Wertz family cabin!

We didn't sleep a lot despite what these next 3 incriminating pictures imply...
Caught ya Caleb

Isn't she just so cute?

LOVE love my Sunday afternoon naps

We slept, they prepared food...sounds fair right?

The men of the house (cabin) decided it was their turn to nap....together, group nap style. Once again, so precious

We decided to step it up and help out...Sue (Janae's mom) would be so proud of the documentation of her helpfulness and men, take note of this one - she's a keeper ;)

Games with everyone

Love us some manly men, thank them for our raised standards guys

Being the helpful friends we are, we stood and posed for pictures as they fixed the snowmobile

I think this is a good look for me, no? :-p

Syrup with French Toast...clearly I loved Caleb's special recipe for syrup, either that or I have a sugar addiction problem. I'm gonna say a little of both

Brett stepping in to help a Texas girl figure out how to stay warm when playing in the snow

Oh hey, it's us posing pre-snowmobile fun (aka pre-pull-mary-and-janae-out-of-the-snow/mountains-fun)

(Please excuse the scarf issues I have in the rest of these pictures, I was missing my fashion savvy sister on this trip who usually helps me with these seemingly intuitive/basic things...)

Continuing to pose while the guys get things ready to go

I like the shoulder turn Janae-nae

AWESOME shot of Brett making pathways for us gals that can't drive in the powder

I MAY or may not have driven up the side of the mountain...on a very sharp  turn going up through the Uinta National Forest

Yes, the answer is yes...I took pictures as Caleb pulled my snowmobile out (don't be too mad at me, I later stepped up to help...I just know my priorities :) )

It was really deep, like up to my waist deep, in snow

Janae managed the situation well from afar, smart girl

Snowmobile out and time for more pics of the evidence

Where my snowmobile paid a visit

Beautiful Utah scenery

Aw
(Thank goodness Janae practiced that knee-pop all year long, looks like she mastered it and added a cute dimension to this group photo ;) )
